In association with the Corn Exchange and Hirst’s Yard, Ont’ Sofa will be acquainting Leeds with some of its freshest local musical talent.

Sunset Graves’ new single ‘Your Ghost Is Formed’ is released today and available to buy digitally and on limited edition 7” clear vinyl.  This is the first single from their forthcoming album ‘Form Your Ghost’ released on June 9th and includes ‘Turquoise’ an exclusive non-album b-side which is available to listen to online for a limited time.

Sunset Graves, aka Andy Fosberry, has been described as “morbidly playful” and “cinematic” with comparisons to Eluvium, God Is An Astronaut and Boards Of Canada often coming up.

The debut album ‘Variant’ combined the likes of ambient electronic with post-rock and trip hop along with showcasing Andy’s apparent love of samples. Impressing listeners with its risky approach to mixing genres the album received shining reviews and presented Sunset Graves as a promising new producer and artist.

The ‘Your Ghost Is Formed’ single is available to buy on iTunes here: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/your-ghost-is-formed-single/id868629976?ign-mpt=uo%3D4

BLIZZARD covers The Smiths for Wonderland

wonderland

At only 19, Blizzard is an artist with 8 years experience under his cap. Winning an EA competition at age 11 to feature in a professionally produced music video; Bradley ‘Blizzard’ Green won the attention of the urban scene and the respect of its critics. With his rap battles on the Don’t Flop scene racking up thousands of views and his release of ‘Sooner Than Never’ going to number 1 in the hip hop charts, it’s almost of no surprise that his latest EP, ‘Testing the Water’ did just the same – although reaching that position in just 12 hours was perhaps somewhat unexpected.

An accomplished rap artist with intimidating freestyle skills, Blizzard strives to prove he’s even more than that; and so, when we met with him on a crisp day aboard a Thames moored boat, he chose to cover ‘This Charming Man’ by The Smiths…

DUKES AVENUE reveal new video and announce single ‘Beautiful Girl’

cover

I am very happy to announce that I will be working with the incredibly talented production trio DUKES AVENUE whilst they promote their brand new single ‘Beautiful Girl’, out on June 2nd.

Check out the video for the single below

Dukes Avenue are Dutchie, Jason and Jack Moses; three friends who grew up in London. They met at college and started writing music together as something fun to pass the time. When well-known figures in the London grime scene started to take an interest, that’s when they believed that this could be more than just a distraction from real life. From those collaborations, Dukes Avenue have received regular airplay from the likes of Radio 1 and 1xtra and have seen chart successes over the past year.

With an EP planned for later in the year, Dukes Avenue are hoping that ‘Beautiful Girl’ is a good introduction for what’s to come.

Ont’ Sofa announce new live EP collaboration with Kat Eaton

KatEaton

Online music channel Ont’ Sofa have announced their second live series release for 2014. The ‘Kat Eaton LIVE Ont’ Sofa’  EP will be released on June 16th via Ont’ Sofa Records. The first track from the release is titled ‘Giving It Up’ and can be listened to here

Recorded at a pop up gig at The Foundry Studios in the singer’s hometown of Sheffield, the EP boasts five tracks taken live from the show.

The collaboration came together when Ont’ Sofa booked Kat to record a session for their YouTube channel. “After working with Kat previously in the studio and for the channel it was an obvious choice to set up one of the pop-up gigs.”

Ont’ Sofa’s plan is to set up various pop-up gigs all over the country that showcase emerging talent and release a string of records throughout the year from those shows.

Ont’ Sofa Pop Up in Sunderland this Friday

9078_ontsofa_logo_AWBLACK

Ont’ Sofa will be popping up in Sunderland on Friday 9th May to showcase the local talent of singer-songwriter Paul Liddell. The free gig will be held at The Watch House Museum at 7pm and is one of many pop-up gigs the Ont’ Sofa team are putting on all over the country, in a bid to support emerging talent and continue their mission of “standing up for real music”.

Having previously worked with the likes of Lucy Spraggen, Luke Friend, Becky Hill and Lunar C, the platform has an eye for spotting fresh talent.

Jason and Ben, founders of Ont’ Sofa had the idea of the pop up shows last year after meeting so many  talented yet undiscovered artists. “We are always recording sessions for the channel with brand new acts that maybe haven’t had as much exposure as we think they deserve. By going around the country with the pop up tour we get to help support talent regionally and showcase them to a bigger audience, help them get some really great content, release a record, promote it and continue the search for even more new music. It’s something we are really excited about”

Paul Liddell is a working musician/singer/songwriter/recording artist based by the sea in the North East of England. His current album, the excellent ‘Milestones And Motorways’ is a proudly home-made and independent release.
