Threeps

There are a few statistics out there that show that working in PR can be pretty stressful. In a recent study conducted by CareerCast, Public Relations was no.6 in the top 10 most stressful jobs after the likes of working in the military, being a firefighter, an airline pilot or an events coordinator. So, if we can find a few helpful tools to make our life a little less traumatic then we should do so. I asked a variety of different folks working in PR to give me some of their favourites, these are in no particular order….

UK producer Star Slinger has taken this indie-pop track from French duo As Animals and put a garage tinged club spin on it.

Using the dreamy and melodic sound the Parisian twosome offer up and creating one of his signature club bounce sounds, Star has produced another top-notch remix.

The original I See Ghost (Ghost Gunfighters) track will be on the self-titled debut album from As Animals, set for release on March 3rd via Atmospherique Records.

As Animals play The Garage in London tomorrow night for The Great Escape Presents alongside Young Legionnaire and Milky Kid.

Steve Richard Braithwaite leads ‘Mastering The Mind’, retreats at Champneys Spas across the UK

IMG_9199

Steve Richard Braithwaite, leader of all things Mind Fitness, will begin his ‘Mastering The Mind’ retreats in conjunction with Champneys Spas on February on February 21st 2014.

Health and fitness is very much a hot topic these days. We read in the news every day about our weight, what we eat, how much we exercise and how to live longer. Is there enough of a focus on the fitness of our mind and what we can do to help ourselves before leaping onto a long couch for a 1 hour session?

Steve Richard Braithwaite, born in 1960 in Vancouver, Canada, believes that we can better our lives through Mind Fitness and being the masters of our own thoughts.

In this two day retreat held at various Champneys Spas throughout the UK, Steve will offer seminars in Mind Fitness, The Power of Reasoning and Mindful Awareness followed by a Q&A session. This will include a 2 night’s stay at the esteemed Champneys resort and use of their facilities.

Steve’s work has seen him teach mind fitness, mindful awareness and stress management courses for large corporations, including L’oreal, BlackRock and Toni & Guy. Steve has delivered stress free, wellness and mind fitness seminars around the UK for 15 years, as well as running his own holistic wellness company, MBV365. Most recently, Steve is working with the NHS and breast cancer patients in an innovative programme called ‘Pathway’.

Steve hopes to bring more awareness to Mind Fitness, promoting better mental awareness and how anyone can be a master of their own mind. He explains “Every day of our lives we are faced with new challenges. How we deal with them is decided by our mind fitness. Great Mind Fitness can be achieved through understanding the Four Minds Of Development and becoming mindfully aware with the ultimate goal of becoming masters of our own minds. This is what I will teach at these retreats”

Steve’s Mastering The Mind retreats will begin at Champneys Tring resort on February 21st 2014. The retreats will then continue every month until the end of 2014. For all dates, information and bookings please see here

Independent film ‘Third Contact’ embarks on tour after making cinema history at BFI IMAX

The mind-bending, psychological thriller begins a stint of screenings around the UK, Europe, America and Canada after a successful kickstarter campaign funded its BFI IMAX premiere

Third Contact is the debut feature film from Director Simon Horrocks and his company, BodyDouble Films. After a successful premiere at the renowned BFI IMAX, the independent film will make its way around the UK, Europe, America and Canada over the next four months. Screenings are being funded by Indiegogo and Tugg using a unique ‘cinema on demand’ approach.

The story follows Dr David Wright, a depressed psychotherapist, who embarks on an obsessive investigation after a second patient takes their life in mysterious circumstances.

Shot using only a handheld camcorder, a microphone and a light, the overall budget for the film came to an astonishingly low £4000. The film has been praised for its exceptional camera work in addition to its seamless use of colours, themes and sounds throughout. The actors have been credited on numerous occasions for their performances whilst the script has been commended on its intelligence.

The writer and director, Simon Horrocks, who also took care of filming, casting, production and editing, had raised the money to put the film together by working in a cinema. Later down the line, Horrocks would be making cinema history for having a film short costing virtually nothing, screening in a theatre alongside films made for £200 million.

This milestone moment in Horrocks career came together by a Kickstarter campaign, which funded the premiere held at the BFI IMAX in London. The likes of MacUser Magazine and Raindance Film Festival got behind the project and made donations towards the campaign.

Once the premiere had taken place the film received rave reviews from the likes of Faust, Critics Associated, Frankenpost, Movie Sleuth and The London Film Review. Third Contact also made it to the prestigious HoF International Film Festival in Germany.

Third Contact will be screening in various locations in the UK, Europe, Canada and America over the forthcoming few months. See full list of dates below. More dates are being announced every day. Keep up to date with all screenings being announced here
